Two of college basketballs biggest powerhouses will meet on Sunday afternoon with a score to settle.
No. 3 Michigan and No. 8 Michigan State have but one game left in their regular season calendars. It's only right they'd set their sights to one another for the clash, a matchup that could serve as a preview of what's to come in the Big Ten tournament.
The Wolverines (28-2) are arguably basketball's most dominant team, besting 13 of the 15 Quad 1 teams they have faced thus far. Michigan has the bragging rights over its intrastate rival, vanquishing the then-No. 7 Spartans, 83-71, on Jan. 30.
Michigan State isn't too far behind, posting a 25-5 record and 15-4 record in Big Ten play. Tom Izzo's side has shown out against top-ranked opposition, with Jeremy Fears Jr., Jaxon Kohler and Coen Carr forming one of the best scoring triumvirates in the nation.
Can the Spartans get their get-back against their biggest rivals? Fears exploded for 31 points in the Jan. 30 loss. Can he produce a similar scoring outburst against Yaxel Lendeborg, Morez Johnson Jr., Aday Mara and Co.? Only time will tell.
