Soccer Standouts: Dominance on the Pitch

The beautiful game saw some incredible offensive explosions this week.

·         Sophie Holcomb (Cox Mill, Sophomore): Holcomb is proving to be a clinical finisher. She racked up five goals in a single shutout against West Cabarrus and currently leads the 7-1 Chargers with nine goals on the season.

·         Marguerite McPhillips (Charlotte Catholic, Senior): Playing for the undefeated Cougars (9-0-1), McPhillips has been the model of consistency, netting three goals across two shutouts this past week.

·         Campbell Schmidt (Hough, Sophomore): Schmidt displayed incredible "clutch" factor, scoring two goals in the final minutes of a half to spark a massive 5-2 comeback win over South Mecklenburg.

·         Kylie Taylor (Marvin Ridge, Sophomore): Leading the undefeated Mavericks (12-0), Taylor has been a nightmare for defenders, tallying four goals and three assists in just three games.

Lacrosse Leaders: Precision and Power

Lacrosse in the Charlotte region continues to grow in intensity, as evidenced by these stellar stat lines.

·         Cameron Crane (Providence, Junior): A true two-way midfielder, Crane dominated against Independence with four goals while also contributing defensively with three caused turnovers.

·         Stella Dailey (Ardrey Kell, Sophomore): In a week of high-scoring affairs, Dailey was unstoppable, scoring 11 goals across two matches and securing eight draw controls.

·         Grace Webb (Weddington, Junior): The Warriors’ leading scorer notched four goals in a nail-biting 10-9 win over Providence Day, bringing her season total to a staggering 25 goals.

·         Kate Wood (Lake Norman, Sophomore): Wood is the definition of an unselfish attacker. With 18 goals and 17 assists this season, her vision on the field helped the Wildcats secure two key victories this week.

Track & Field: Setting the State Standard

Two athletes, in particular, have put Charlotte on the map by posting the best marks in North Carolina.

·         Promise Lovelace (Statesville, Senior): The Charlotte 49ers commit had a historic Senior Night. Her shot put throw of 48-0.5 and discus throw of 151-0 aren't just personal bests—they are currently the #1 marks in the state for the outdoor season.

·         Jala Webster-Jackson (Mallard Creek, Freshman): It is rare for a freshman to dominate so quickly. She claimed the state’s top spot in the high jump with a leap of 5-8 and took home the gold in the 100-meter hurdles.

Softball: The Ultimate Offensive Threat

·         Layla Wagner (Cannon School, Junior): Wagner’s performance during the Freedom Christian Academy Invitational was nothing short of legendary. She hit .467 (7-for-15) with two home runs and 12 RBIs, carrying the Cougars to a perfect 4-0 week.
