Quad Webb makes a stunning statement about King: "Didn't think that it was real"

Married to Medicine's Quad Webb came even closer to marrying boyfriend Kirk "King" King than you might have thought, prior to their eventual split.

As the couples' trip to Jamaica continued on Season 12, Episode 13, the women broke off from their partners for some candid relationship talk. After Quad shared that the "biggest challenge" she'd been facing with King was that he felt she didn't "cater to him" enough, Dr. Heavenly Kimes chimed in to ask why she was giving him "all the wife benefits" before he had even put a ring on her finger.

"I'm not even pressed to be a wife right now," Quad responded, before revealing, "The man has asked me before to marry him. I thought it was BS. I was out here playing. I was thinking about all the superficial s--t that didn't f--kin' even matter."

She added more intel on King's so-called proposal in a confessional, recalling to a producer, "We're at his condo, and then it's like, 'So we can just run up here to the courthouse right now.' I didn't think that it was real. I really wasn't rejecting him. I really just wanted more of a plan for our lives. But the energy after, he just kind of shut down on me."

Back on the beach, Dr. Mimi Sanders asked Quad what she wanted out of her relationship with King at that point. As she described to the group, "I want a family. I want him to be the head of our family. I want this man, and I want his children. That's what I want."

When Toya Bush-Harris, meanwhile, suggested that she "stop talking about a baby and start talking more about marriage," Quad shot back, "No, baby, I'm talking about what I want."

King opens up about his and Quad Webb's marriage decision

During a separate counselor-led breakout session later on, the men put King in the hot seat, questioning why he had yet to take the next step in his and Quad's relationship.

"Well, put it this way, we're on our own journey, and we’re doing it at our pace," King explained.

When Cecil Whitmore pressed him more on marriage specifically, he replied, "In regards to that, you guys are pressuring me more than she is."

Meanwhile, Curtis Berry cited the Bible in attributing King and Quad's difficulties in starting a family amid their IVF journey to them going "out of order" by having "sex before marriage." His comments did not sit well with the other men, however.

"We're not gonna weaponize the Bible against me right now," King clapped back. "I think those are medical complications, not necessarily due to order. ... I mean, it's 2025. We're doing it on our timeline, what works for us."

Quad Webb and King break down their relationship issues

After returning to Atlanta, Quad and King unpacked what Curtis said in Jamaica, before diving into their own discussion about potentially walking down the aisle amid tension in their relationship.

"First of all, everyone's talking about marriage, but is it really necessary?" King asked. "It's like sometimes two companies may not need to merge. They can thrive on their own, and they can benefit each other."

After explaining that he'd "thought about it a lot," King claimed that Quad hadn't been meeting his needs of "consideration and appreciation." Quad, meanwhile, insisted that all she does is "scream" King's praises, but he countered, "Screaming it versus showing it are two different things."

As an example, King went on to revisit their most recent trip to Ghana for fertility treatments, claiming that Quad was "beating up on" him and acting like he was "the enemy," despite him being there only to "support" her. "There was a lot of tension," he added. "I look at it as, damn, you're ungrateful."

Quad, for her part, explained that she was still "working through some things" before a producer asked them both in a joint confessional if they had "tried to modify things" that they took away from the couples' trip.

"I will say, hands-down, I tried," Quad answered. "I did a whole lot of self-reflecting. I did all that I could do. But if I'm out here doing it by myself..."

That's when King interjected to claim that Quad "didn't do anything" by herself, insisting that he had "tried to the point of exhaustion."

When Quad remarked, "We're gonna disagree there," King replied, "Yeah, we can agree to disagree."
